Frequently Asked Questions

A title transfer with a plate/transferring a plate requires: Title Notarized (If PA), Drivers License, Proof of Insurance (Must be ID card or Dec page). 

• Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License or Pennsylvania Photo Identification Card
• Certificate of Title. All owners of the vehicle must be present in order to transfer the title to a PA title
• If registration is to be issued, a valid and current PA Insurance Identification Card containing the purchaser’s name is required
• If you have owned the vehicle for less than six months, we will require proof of sales tax paid in order to exempt you from additional sales tax

• Your valid driver’s license
• Your vehicle’s registration card. If you do not have your registration card, we’ll require your vehicle identification number and your plate number

• Your previous registration card or your PennDOT-mailed renewal offer slip. If you don’t have either of these, we will have to fill out PennDOT Form MV-140 instead. In order to complete this form, we need your valid driver’s license and odometer reading
• Your valid and active insurance ID card. If you do not have one, we cannot renew your vehicle. Legally, only insured vehicles can be registered in PA

• Your valid driver’s license
• Your vehicle identification number (VIN). This can be found on your insurance ID card or on the vehicle itself
• Your plate number.
